Privacy statement

How we handle your data on villa-arbolada.nl.

As soon as you share data with us through this site — your name and e-mail address in the contact form, for example — we are required under privacy law (GDPR) to tell you what we do with it. You can read that below: what data we receive, what we use it for, how long we keep it and which other parties are involved.

Villa Arbolada is a privately owned holiday home in Alcalalí (Spain) which we rent out ourselves: Ernest and Marjon, the owners. We are also the ones responsible for the data that comes in through this website; you can reach us at info@villa-arbolada.nl. We process as little personal data as possible: only what is needed to answer your question or arrange your stay.

Contact form

If you fill in the contact form, we receive your name, e-mail address and (if you enter them) your telephone number, subject and message. We use that data solely to answer your question.

Messages arrive at info@villa-arbolada.nl and are also stored in the administration area of this website, so that a message is not lost if something goes wrong with the e-mail. We do not keep them longer than necessary and delete them once the contact has been concluded. Your data is not used for newsletters or advertising, and we do not sell it to anyone.

Spam protection

To prevent spam, the contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. That check looks at whether you are a human being and not an automated script. In doing so, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser characteristics. Cloudflare does not use Turnstile data to track you or to show advertisements.

Bookings through the calendar

The booking calendar on the Book directly page is supplied by MyTourist. If you actually place a booking, you pass your data directly to MyTourist and the (deposit) payment also runs through their system. For that part of the process, MyTourist’s terms and privacy statement apply. From them we receive the data we need to arrange your stay: your name, contact details, dates of stay and invoicing details.

If you book through Airbnb, Micazu, VRBO or 123visit, the data processing runs through that platform and their privacy terms apply.

Statutory registration of guests

Spanish law obliges providers of tourist accommodation to register guests’ details and report them to the authorities. We are therefore required to record identity details from you on arrival. We use that data solely for that legal obligation.

Cookies

This website itself places no tracking or advertising cookies and uses no visitor statistics that follow you personally. The MyTourist booking module and Cloudflare’s spam protection may, however, store functional data in your browser that they need in order to work.

Fonts and icons

The fonts and icons on this site are on our own server. No request whatsoever therefore goes to Google Fonts or to any other external network, and your IP address is not passed on for them.

One exception, for completeness: the booking calendar is MyTourist’s software, and for its own styling it fetches a font from Google. That happens only on the two pages where the calendar appears, and we have no influence over it — it sits inside the calendar itself.

Embedded content from other websites

Some pages carry content that is loaded directly from another website: the map showing our location on The Jalón valley and surroundings, a route map from Komoot on Bike, and on The village of Alcalalí a video hosted on YouTube. Embedded content like that behaves as though you were visiting that other website yourself: your IP address is passed on and that party can place cookies. We receive no data from it ourselves.

That YouTube video on The village of Alcalalí is a deliberate exception to this. It only loads once you click play yourself. Until then you see only an image that comes from our own server, and nothing goes to YouTube or Google. If you do click play, the video is loaded via youtube-nocookie.com and YouTube’s terms apply from that moment on.

The map itself loads nothing from Google: the map imagery comes from OpenTopoMap and OpenStreetMap, two free projects that place no advertising or tracking cookies. Only if you click the route link below the map do you go to Google Maps.

An ordinary link to another website is, incidentally, something different from embedded content — for example the links to Google Maps with which we point you to a car park in Benissa, or a link to a restaurant’s site. Nothing is loaded there as long as you do not click on it; if you do click, you are a guest on that party’s site and their terms apply.

Your rights

You have the right to see your data, to have it corrected or to have it deleted. Send a message to info@villa-arbolada.nl and we will arrange it. If you disagree with something, you can lodge a complaint with the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the Dutch data protection authority.
